UTA Signs Ray Bradbury Estate
The late author's science fiction, fantasy and speculative fiction classics include 'Fahrenheit 451,' which HBO recently adapted as a telepic starring Michael B. Jordan.
UTA has signed the estate of Ray Bradbury, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.
The author's many sci-fi, fantasy, speculative fiction and horror classics included The Illustrated Man, The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way Comes and Fahrenheit 451, the latter of which was adapted as an HBO telepic starring Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon in May. More than 8 million copies of his works have been sold in more than 36 languages, and his accolades include the National Medal of Arts and a special citation by the Pulitzer jury.
UTA will represent the estate in film, television and digital opportunities, while Don Congdon Associates will continue to represent literary matters. They will jointly represent the estate for stage productions, while Greenberg Glusker continues to be the legal rep. The combined team will work together on a number of themed events in preparation for the Aug. 22, 2020, centennial of Bradbury's birth.
"Dad's stories are perhaps more important today than they've ever been," Bradbury's daughters said in a joint statement. "And the fact that we will soon mark the 100th anniversary of Dad's birth means that there is going to be a lot in store for both old and new fans alike."
